Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to SafeUs. Your privacy is paramount to our mission of creating safer, more connected communities. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your data when you use our application and platform.

2. Information We Collect

  • Personal Identifiers: We collect your name and phone number for account verification and to foster accountability within the SafeUs community.
  • Location Data: SafeUs is a location-aware safety network. We collect your "Home Location" and "Current Location" coordinates to power our real-time alert system, ensuring you receive critical safety updates within your designated radius.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Community Safety: Your location is used exclusively to send you proximity-based alerts and to notify others if you trigger an SOS.
  • Engagement: Your name is displayed to other verified users only during active alerts or in community group chats to ensure transparency.

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal information. We utilize OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) for reverse geocoding (converting coordinates to addresses), which involves limited data transmission to their API in accordance with their strict privacy policies.

5. Control & Deletion

You have full control over your profile. You can update your safety radius and location settings at any time. You may also permanently delete your account, which instantly removes all personal identifiers and location history from our servers.

6. Security

We implement military-grade encryption and robust backend protocols to protect your sensitive location data from unauthorized access.
